Compassion
In a recent Little League tournament game in the Southwest region, a young man named Isaiah Jarvis was hit in the head by a pitch. While his batting helmet protected him from serious injury, it was very painful and scary to all involved. Isaiah stood up and went to first base. He noticed the pitcher, Kaiden Shelton, was overcome with emotion and tearful. Then Isaiah walked from first base to the pitcher’s mound. Many wondered what would happen. Then Isaiah embraced the pitcher who had hit him and reassured him he was okay. Other players and coaches surrounded the pitcher. It was a great moment of sportsmanship from both players. Sometimes adults can learn a lot from young people.
